New interview with AKIVA
Check out this great interview with MMS following the release of single ‘Ammunition’
‘Ammunition’ is Out Now!
“Pay attention, pay attention”. A fitting intro to arguably the most cutting track yet from four-piece electro indie band AKIVA. This is an important record, full of passion and relevant debate in a fast shifting Global crisis.
‘Ammunition’ is the third track from the Angelic Studios sessions, produced and engineered by the talented Jake Gordon (Skepta, J Hus, Everything Everything, Music Producers Guild Award Nominee 2018) and continues the narrative of fight, power and discontent.
“The whole point of this track was to drive straight at the heart of the decision makers in positions of power, taking lethal decisions with little view, or care, of consequences. Arms deals, corruption, dictators and Orwellian never ending wars of propaganda stoked the fires for this track”, explains frontman Dave MacKenzie. “Take the issues that are important and combine them with melodies, beats and riffs that make you want to move, that’s what we usually aim for.”
‘Ammunition’ also sees the band again link up with Berlin based animator Wayne McCauslin. Following the success of the ‘M.O.D.’ Official video, they return to his stunning original artistry to deliver an all together more sophisticated and intriguing visual. McCauslin worked on the piece whilst in Vietnam and this drove the inspiration to match this conflict themed polemic. War museums and local tales conjured up the imagery that makes this video work so effectively with the track. Watch out for how the animation is weaves into the full-on live sets.

Great new interview with Akiva following release of M.O.D.
“We’ve got two more singles coming out next year. We’re also looking to go back into the studio in 2018 to record some more tracks so hopefully the next album won’t be far off.”

Thought we would revisit a video from the Akiva archive. The Hard To Remember video was a forerunner to the Can’t Buy Revolutions album and was shot on location at LostBoys Studios.
